    The “Fall Paddle” returns for a third year.  The Exeter River is a town treasure running through the middle of Brentwood.  A pristine river with an abundance of wildlife, much of the land along the river has been conserved, resulting in very little development along its shores and a very natural experience.  Whether you are a frequent paddler on the river, or have never been out on it, we hope you will consider joining in.

    When? Saturday September 25th, 10am-12pm (With 5 minute intervals)

      Rain Date- Sunday September 26th

    Where? Departs from the river access stairs on Rowell Road West (off of Haigh Rd)

      Destination- Pickpocket Dam

    Who can participate? This event is open to all

      Cost? There is no cost to participate!!!

    What is included? A BBQ lunch will be provided!!!

    What does the day look like and is anything required?

    • Must bring your own boat. (canoe or kayak)
    • Everyone must bring and wear their own life jacket.
    • Check in at the Rowell Road entry and must show proof of life jacket.
    • The paddle will proceed downriver to the Pickpocket Dam at Cross Rd (about 1hr paddle)
    • A lunch of hotdogs and hamburgers will be served.
    • Representatives will be on hand to provide information about the river and keeping it healthy during the lunch stop
    • After lunch the group paddle will paddle back up the river (very little current) For those not wanting to paddle both ways, limited rides will be available from the dam back to the launch site.

    Don't have a canoe or kayak? If you are a resident of Brentwood. You can rent a canoe or kayak from the recreation department (no fee).     Not up for paddling? VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to help with the event. Please contact the recreation department if you can help out.

    This event is a collaboration between the Brentwood Recreation Department and the Exeter Squamscott River Local Advisory Committee

    Fall Youth Field Hockey 

    This program is structured to introduce the fundamentals for the game of Field Hockey and build on existing fundamentals. This is an, "In-house" program and we may play other towns in scrimmages if schedule and availability allows it. This program will be mostly for the enjoyment of the game, skill development, and learning the rules.

    Practices located on the lower baseball field at the community center

     (Additional weekend scrimmages  maybe offered)

    Coed grades K-6. $45 per child (includes use of sticks)

    $35 per player that returns their jersey from a previous
    Parents/Guardians are responsible for their child's mouth piece and shin guards

    Registration open to residents & non residents


    Brentwood Recreation will still offer field hockey for this spring and will adopt new safety regulations due to the Covid-19 Virus. If field hockey needs to be cancelled due to the Corona Virus the Recreation Department will notify all participants and will refund all families.

     Youth Basketball


    Pre K & Kindergarten Practice/play as a group for one hour Saturday mornings (Swasey).  The first half practicing individual skills and basketball fundamentals.  The second half a structured game with the hoops lowered.  The goal is to introduce the game of basketball to young players, working on the basics of dribbling, passing, shooting and playing together.


     1st and 2nd graders: Play on coed teams.  Practice/play for one hour Saturday mornings (Swasey) with an optional mid week practice. The first half of games will be set for practicing individual skills and basketball fundamentals.  The second half a structured game with the hoops lowered.  The goal is to introduce the game of basketball to young players, working on the basics of dribbling, passing, shooting and playing together as a team.  Coaches instruct players during games as well as practice time. Open gym night for additional playing time TBA

    3rd-6th Grade Basketball

    For the 2021-2022 basketball season grades 3rd-6th will be playing in the Stratham Recreation League. Travel might be required and games will be on Saturdays with one mid week practice.

    7th-8th Grade Basketball

    For the 2021-2022 basketball season grades 7th-8th will be playing all of their games at The Rim in Hampton, NH. Games take place on either Saturdays or Sundays with one mid week practice. 

    ***Brentwood Basketball is open to players who reside in the SAU 16 District***

     Season runs approximately Dec. 1st through February 19th. Practices dates to be announced.

    Registration cost: K-2nd ($50), 3rd-8th ($85)

     (Families registering three or more players -  first two children at regular fee, $20 for additional children...third child that receives discount must be in a lower, or equal, program than siblings)

     ** Additional $3 fee for online registration

    Adult Pick-up Pickleball 

    Thursdays, 6:00-8:00pm.

     Adult Pickleball will be offered again in the gym at the Brentwood Community Center Basketball Court. No experiences is necessary! Rec. Dept. will provide paddles if you do not have one. This is a low-impact, easy to learn, and extremely fun sport to play, at any age! Pickleball is a combination of tennis, badminton, and racquet ball. You can play singles, but is mostly played in doubles. Come try it out! No registration fee.

    Yoga Movement for Seniors!


    Join us at the Brentwood Community Center Tuesday mornings for this FREE class! This gentle movement class helps seniors improve range of motion, flexibility, balance, and will help relieve your aches and pains, all in the comfort of a chair. No experience necessary. This is a great social activity too! Classes are 10am-10:45am

    All classes are now open! The Recreation Department will continue to monitor and update it's Covid-19 protocols on a daily basis and if classes need to be cancelled due to Covid-19 the Recreation Director and the Yoga Instructor will notify you. Please email the recreation director with any questions or concerns.

    Tang Soo Do is a Korean Martial Art comprised of both hard and soft techniques. It emphasizes whole body physical training. It’s beneficial for self-discipline, self-defense and health.

    Classes are available Monday and Friday at the Brentwood Community Center.


    Classes are taught by Retired Law Enforcement office Bob Meegan. He is currently a 4th degree Black Belt with the World Tang Soo Do Association and recently recognized by the association  for his 35 years as an instructor.



    Enrollment is continual,

    so you may begin at any point.

    Cost:  $60/single/mo.    $100/family/mo. (2 or more)


    Martial Art classes are back!!! Starting this Friday, July 10th classes will take place outside and will return in the community center after August 21st. FILL OUT COVID WAIVER form that is attached below. You won't be able to participate until Covid form is filled out.     All practices and games are held at the Recreation area on Route 125
