    REMOTE CARE


    Starting Monday, February 1st, 2021 Brentwood Recreation will be opening the Remote Care Program! The Remote Care Program is designed to provide support to Brentwood families who are in need of an affordable In Day Remote Learning Center for the duration of the school day.


    Counselors: All of our counselors are first aid and CPR certified, some have more than 3 years of experience with working with children. There will always be 2-3 counselors working and we will have some of our summer camp counselors back!!!

    Typical Day Schedule: Students will be placed in groups based on grade and school schedule and as the school day progresses, every student will be required to work on their remote school work as given by their teachers. There will be snack and lunch breaks throughout the day and the Remote Care Counselors will be available for tech/school support for the students. Once the school day is over the students will have time for arts & crafts, movies, outdoor activities, free time and more! 

    Schedules: After registering for Remote Care, we ask that parents/guardians to email the Recreation Department their child's school schedule so students can be placed in groups appropriately


    Drop Off/Pick up: Children can be dropped off to the Brentwood Community Center as early as 8:00am. Children can be picked up at anytime, but please make sure to have a Driver's ID with you as the counselors will check at pick up. All children must be picked up no later than 5:05pm. There will be a $10 late fee for the first 15 minutes late. There will be an additional $1 late fee for every minute after 5:20pm. 


    Capacity: 20 participants will be allowed to attend Remote Care. Any parent/guardian that is interested in registering for Remote Care please register online or contact the recreation office.


    Cost: $150 per week/$40 per day (can register for up to 2 single days a week) 



    The first 10 people to register for Remote Care will receive a $25 credit towards February Vacation Camp. 




    Who can register? K-8th grade. Must be a Brentwood Resident.


    Registration: Registrations for Remote Care is open and is evaluated on a weekly basis, incase any grades or the school is forced to go remote due to Covid-19. If you are interested in weekly registrations please pay online. If only interested in single days please pay at the Recreation Office. 

    Covid-19 Precautions: The community center will go from 2 cleanings a week to 5, masks will be required (except for high physical activity and snack/lunch breaks), counselors will perform temp checks at sign in, high touched surface areas are wiped down constantly, and more.

     Youth Basketball


    Austin 17 House  (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays)                

    Pre K (age 4 as of 12/1/20)  & Kindergarten 

    1st/2nd Grade

    3rd-5th Grade


    Talbot Gym (Wednesdays & Thursdays)

    6th-8th Grade

     

     

    Pre K & Kindergarten Practice/play as a group for one hour Saturday mornings (Austin 17 House).  The first half practicing individual skills and basketball fundamentals.  The second half a structured game with the hoops lowered.  The goal is to introduce the game of basketball to young players, working on the basics of dribbling, passing, shooting and playing together.

     



     1st and 2nd graders: Play on coed teams.  Practice/play for one hour Saturday mornings (Austin 17 House). The first half practicing individual skills and basketball fundamentals.  The second half a structured game with the hoops lowered.  The goal is to introduce the game of basketball to young players, working on the basics of dribbling, passing, shooting and playing together as a team.  Coaches instruct players during games as well as practice time. Open gym night for additional playing time is offered twice a month and optional for players.


    3rd-8th Grade In-House League

    For the 2020-2021 basketball season grades 3rd-8th will be playing in an In-House Brentwood League due to some Covid-19 concerns. Grades 3rd-5th will play their games at the Austin 17 House in Brentwood and grades 6th-8th will play their games at Talbot Gym in Exeter.


    ***Brentwood Basketball is open to players who reside in the SAU 16 District***





     Season runs approximately Dec. 1st through February 21st. Practices dates to be announced.

    Registration cost: K-2nd ($50), 3rd-8th ($85)

     (Families registering three or more players -  first two children at regular fee, $20 for additional children...third child that receives discount must be in a lower, or equal, program than siblings)

     ** Additional $3 fee for online registration

     


    Coaches Needed!!! (Coaches meeting on Monday, November 23rd at 6:30pm located at the Brentwood Community Center)



    OPEN GYM!!! (week of 11/30/20 & open to Brentwood Recreation players only)


    Monday-1st-2nd Grade, 6pm-7pm located at A17 House

    Tuesday-3rd-5th Grade, 6pm-7pm located at A17 House

    Wednesday-6th-8th Grade, 6pm-7pm located at Talbot Gym




    ***Registration Deadline is November 22nd***




    ***Covid Update*** Please keep in mind that due to potential Covid-19 cases or another wae hitting the region that the upcoming basketball season could be cancelled at any point. Covid-19 protocols for the following season will be provided as soon as possible and families will have up until the start of the season to cancel their registration. Once the season starts or the season gets cancelled because of Covid, refund will not be guaranteed. Due to some facility restrictions, this season's practices & games will be located at Talbot Gym and at the Austin 17 House in Brentwood. Please visit the Recreation website regularly for updated news surrounding Covid-19 protocols and the status of the upcoming basketball season.     TANG SOO DO CLASSES

    Tang Soo Do is a Korean Martial Art comprised of both hard and soft techniques. It emphasizes whole body physical training. It’s beneficial for self-discipline, self-defense and health.

    Classes are available Monday and Friday at the Brentwood Community Center.

     

    Classes are taught by Retired Law Enforcement office Bob Meegan. He is currently a 4th degree Black Belt with the World Tang Soo Do Association and recently recognized by the association  for his 35 years as an instructor.

     

    6:30-8:00pm  

    Enrollment is continual,

    so you may begin at any point.

    Cost:  $60/single/mo.    $100/family/mo. (2 or more)

     

    Martial Art classes are back!!! Starting this Friday, July 10th classes will take place outside and will return in the community center after August 21st. FILL OUT COVID WAIVER form that is attached below. You won't be able to participate until Covid form is filled out. Please contact Bob Meegan or the Recreation Director with any questions or concerns.
